Scope and Content Note

This series contains original copies of approximately fifty commutations of sentence signed by the governor. They relate principally to Sing Sing inmates but also include commutations from Auburn and Clinton inmates. Information contained in each commutation includes: name of inmate; county of sentence; name of prison; original prison term; and signature of governor.

The official State Seal is affixed to each document.
