Scope and Content Note

This series consists of scrapbooks created at Willard State Hospital. The scrapbooks primarily contain newspaper clippings on the topics of: Willard State Hospital; other mental institutions; state agencies and state officials related to the mental health professions; medical societies; legislation affecting care of mentally ill; and other topics related to mental illness and its treatment. Some volumes contain a mixture of articles related to mental illness, its treatment, and articles of general interest.

One volume contains a large number of items related to Willard, such as public announcements; proposed legislative bills; blank reporting forms, form letters, and financial statements; circular letters; train and boat schedules for arrivals and departures from Willard; resolutions of the Board of Trustees; and programs of entertainment and ceremonies at the hospital.

Custodial History

These records were transferred to the State Archives from Willard Psychiatric Center at the time of its closure in April, 1995.
