Scope and Content Note
This series consists of monthly reports documenting activities of Department of Mental Hygiene staff psychiatrists at Auburn State Prison. Copies of the reports were submitted to the department and to the Department of Correction. These copies were retained in either the warden's office or the office of the psychiatrist.
Reports give: number of inmates interviewed and receiving individual therapy; number of group therapy sessions; number of inmates in group therapy; number placed under psychiatric observation; number examined for classification purposes, on request of the Division of Parole, and preparatory to discharge; number transferred for psychiatric reasons (to state hospital for criminally insane, to state institutions for defective delinquents, to other correctional facilities, and total); and other notes, such as the dates the psychiatrist visited the prison.
Names and identification numbers of inmates are listed for some categories, such as those examined for parole purposes.
