Scope and Content Note
This series consists of a single bound notebook kept by William B. Cooper, Resident Engineer, Canal Office, Utica. The notebook includes estimated costs for enlargements of the Erie Canal in 1841; costs of cutting stone for the North Lock of Lock No. 24; costs for Whipples iron bridges and farm bridges; a small water color of washers for Whipples bridges; pencil sketches of tunnel cross sections and railroad tunnels; notes on tunneling; various estimated costs for Moses Kill Lock, Champlain Canal; and a pencil sketch of pile driving at the Fort Edward Aqueduct.
Custodial History
The notebook was transferred from the State Library to the Archives in 1996 but not accessioned until December 2000.
