Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible websites of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.

B2089-07: This accretion contains a copy of the main Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) site produced on December 29, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains information about the authority's mission and board of directors, press releases (1998-2006), energy studies and analyses (1998-2006), research and development reports (1997-2006) relating to transportation, renewable energy, and other topics, and an annual report (2005-06). Information about the authority's programs and financial incentives for agricultural, commercial/industrial, hospital/institutional, school, residential, and other energy users is also included.

Researchers should note that the "Enter Here" button on the site's home page does not work properly. However, clicking on the "Board of Directors," "Privacy Policies," or "Comments" links at the bottom of the home page will bypass the "Enter Here" link; the navigational links at the top and the bottom of each page can then be used to access the site's contents.

This accretion also contains copies of five other Energy Research and Development Authority websites. The Energy Smart site (copied December 28, 2006) contains information about the Energy Smart program, a joint NYSERDA-New York State Public Service Commission initiative supporting energy efficiency, low-income assistance, and other programs during the state's transition to competitive sale of electricity. It contains press releases (2003-2006) and other materials (some in Spanish) concerning programs and financial incentives promoting construction of energy-efficient homes, purchase of energy-efficient appliances, residential solar-electric systems, and weatherization of existing homes. Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of web archiving technology, the navigational links at the top of each page all connect to the live site. In order to access the content in the archived version of the site, click "Tips to Help You Save this Winter," "Have an Energy Smart Holiday," or one of the other consumer tips icons that appear on the right of home page; afterward, the navigational links that appear at the left side of the resulting page will work properly.

The Low Income Forum on Energy (LIFE) site (copied December 27, 2006) contains regional meeting summaries and other reports (1999-2005), conference briefing papers (2002), and other material relating to LIFE, a NYSERDA-Public Service Commission program that brings together individuals and organizations seeking to address the needs of low-income energy consumers. Researchers should note that some point after this copy was produced, NYSERDA incorporated information about the LIFE program into its Energy Smart site and removed the LIFE site from the live web. Researchers should also note that the home page of this copy always displays the current date, not the date this copy was produced.

The Power Naturally site (copied December 27, 2006) contains summary information about tax credits and other incentives for use of solar, wind, biomass, and other forms of renewable energy. Researchers should note that as of August 2021, this copy was temporarily inaccessible. The Premium-Efficiency Motors Program site (copied December 27, 2006) contains summary information about marketing support and other forms of assistance to vendors of energy-efficient electric motors and financial incentives and other forms of assistance to buyers of such motors. Researchers should note that the home page of this copy always displays the current date, not the date this copy was produced. The Saratoga Technology and Energy Park (STEP) site (copied December 27, 2006) contains newsletters (2004-2006), a site plan, and information about the current and planned development of the NYSERDA-owned park, which was created to encourage clean energy and environmental technology companies to move to the Capital Region. Summary information about and press releases (2005-2006) issued by tenant companies and information about financial incentives and other forms of assistance for prospective tenants is also included.

B2089-08: This accretion contains a copy of the Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) site produced on May 8, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It contains background information about the authority and additional press releases (1998-2008), and energy studies and analyses (1998-2008). Information about the authority's programs and incentives for agricultural, commercial/industrial, hospital/institutional, school, residential and other energy users is also included.

This accretion also contains copies of four other NYSERDA sites. Most of the information found within these copies is also present in the copies produced in 2006, but some new information has been added. The Energy Smart site (copied May 7, 2008) contains updated information (some in Spanish) about programs and financial incentives promoting residential energy efficiency. Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of web archiving technology, some of the content contained within this site could not be captured successfully and that none of the navigational links that appear on the left side of each page work properly. The Power Naturally site (copied May 7, 2008) contains additional presentations (2005-2007) and other reference materials concerning renewable energy. The Premium-Efficiency Motors Program site (copied May 7, 2008) contains updated information about assistance to vendors and purchasers of energy-efficient electric motors. Researchers should also note that the home page of this copy always displays the current date, not the date this copy was produced. The Saratoga Technology and Energy Park (STEP) site (copied May 7, 2008) contains additional newsletters (2004-2007) and press releases (2005-2008) issued by NYSERDA, STEP tenant companies, and area politicians and information about financial incentives and other forms of assistance for prospective tenants.

B2089-10: This accretion consists of a copy of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority site produced on December 24, 2010, shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office. It contains background information about the authority and additional press releases (1999-2010), energy studies and analyses (1998-2010), and annual reports (2006-2010). It also includes board and committee meeting agendas and minutes (2005-2010), audit reports (2005, 2008-2010) budgetary plans (2008-2010), state energy plans (2002, 2009, 2013), annual prices for energy (1994-2008), and research and development reports (1997-2006) relating to transportation, renewable energy, and other topics. Information about the authority's programs and incentives for agricultural, commercial/industrial, health care/institutional, municipal, educational, residential and other energy users is also included. Researchers should note that the "Home" link of each page may not work properly. To return to the home page, click on the NYSERDA logo at the top left of each page.

This accretion also contains copies of four other NYSERDA sites. Most of the information found within these copies is also present in previous copies, but some new information has been added. The Energy Smart site (copied December 24, 2010) contains updated information about programs and financial incentives promoting residential energy efficiency; however, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of web archiving technology, only part of this site could be captured properly in late 2010. Only the home page of the Power Naturally site (copied December 27, 2010) could be captured in late 2010. The Premium-Efficiency Motors Program site (copied December 24, 2010) contains updated information about marketing support and other forms of assistance to vendors of energy-efficient electric motors. The Saratoga Technology and Energy Park (STEP) site (copied December 24, 2010) contains additional newsletters (2004-2010) and press releases (2005-2010) issued by NYSERDA, STEP tenant companies, and area politicians.

Researchers should note that at some point after these copies were produced, NYSERDA integrated the information found within these sites into its main website and removed these sites from the live web.

B2089-20: This accretion consists of a copy of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority site produced on February 24, 2020, during the third term of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo (2011-2021). It contains background information about the authority and its programs and services for business and industry, homeowners and renters, prospective clean energy investors and corporate partners, and researchers and policymakers. It also contains newer press releases (2017-2020), bylaws and committee charters, and meeting agendas and minutes of its Board of Directors, Audit and Finance Committee, Governance Committee, and Program Planning Committee (2017-2019). It also includes budget and financial plans (2017-2021) and performance measurement, investment, auditor, and other financial and operational reports (2017-2019). A New York Clean Energy Technologies Innovation Metrics Report (2015), Clean Energy Industry Report (2017-2018), case studies and feature articles, and energy analysis reports and studies (1998-2019) are also present. In addition, this copy contains annual and quarterly reports (2017-2019), financial status reports (2014-2018) and other materials created by the Green Jobs Green New York Advisory Council; and reports and other documents (2006-2019) relating to radioactive waste at the West Valley Demonstration Project site.
