Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible websites of the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, which until July 13, 2010 was known as the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.

B2154-07: This accretion consists of a copy of the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities site produced on December 23, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains information about the office's history and mission, press releases (2002-2004, 2006), administrative memoranda (2002-2006), advisory guidelines and memoranda (2001-2002), OMRDD Reports (1998-1999, 2002) outlining noteworthy initiatives, and the office's Executive Budget recommendations (1998-2006). It also includes information about selecting residential service providers, directories, guidelines, and other resources for individuals and families served by the office. Information for people interested in working with individuals with developmental disabilities and proposed regulations, training information, and other materials for providers of services to people with developmental disabilities are also present.

Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, some of the information contained within this site could not be captured properly in late 2006.

B2154-08: This accretion consists of a copy of the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities site produced on June 9, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). Most of the information it contains is also present in the December 23, 2006 copy, but this copy contains additional press releases (2002-2004, 2006-2007), administrative memoranda (2002-2008), OMRDD Reports (1998-1999, 2002, 2007), and Executive Budget recommendations (1998-2008).

Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, some of the information contained within this site could not be captured properly in mid-2008.

B2165-11: This accretion consists of a copy of the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities site produced on December 29, 2010, shortly before Governor David A. Paterson left office. Some of the information it contains is also present in older copies, but this copy includes additional press releases (2008-2010) and administrative memoranda (2002-2010), and OMRDD Reports (2007). It also includes updated directories, guidelines, and other resources for individuals and families served by the office; information for people interested in working with individuals with developmental disabilities; and proposed regulations, training information, and other resources for providers of services to people with developmental disabilities.

B2165-15: This accretion consists of a copy of the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities' Twitter feed that was produced on February 13, 2015, shortly after Governor Andrew M. Cuomo (2011- ) completed his first term of office. It contains information about winter storm-related office closures, news items, and upcoming events. Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, most of the information contained within this feed could not be captured properly. Researchers should also note that the main Office for People with Developmental Disabilities site was not captured in 2014 or 2015.

B2165-20: This accretion consists of a copy of the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities site that was produced on March 16, 2020, during the third term of office of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo (2011- ). It contains reports to the Legislature (2013, 2016-2017) and other materials relating to the New York State Transition Plan, a state-federal initiative to develop person-centered services that emphasized placement in integrated community settings, competitive employment, creation of an effective managed health care program for people with disabilities, and sustainable and transparent funding. It also contains information about the office's services and supports for children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families, and manuals and guidance for service providers who receive funding from the office, including information about responding to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Also included are press releases (2011-2020), strategic plans (2006-2016), reports issued by the Autism Spectrum Advisory Board (2017, 2019), and a military family services report (2016). Of note is information relating to services for former residents of the Willowbrook State School whose ongoing care is governed by a 1975 consent decree.

Researchers should note that the Services & Supports, Providers & Staff, Community Connections, Resources, Regulations & Guidance, and About links that appear at the top of each page do not work properly. The Site Map link at the bottom of each page should be used to navigate through this copy.
