Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible websites of the Division of Child Support Enforcement, which is part of the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance. Researchers should note that this site was not captured in mid-2008, when Governor Eliot A. Spitzer (2007-2008) resigned from office, or in late 2014, when Governor Andrew M. Cuomo (2011-2021) completed his first term of office.

B2187-07: This accretion consists of a copy of the of Child Support Enforcement site produced on December 22, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains information about the division's mission and organizational structure, as well as services that the office provides for teen parents, custodial parents, non-custodial parents, and employers. Services include establishment of paternity; direct deposit of child support payments; and collection of overdue child support via interception of income tax refunds and unemployment insurance payments, seizure of financial assets, and other measures. Information for employers required to withhold child support payments from employee wages or salaries, including detailed instructions for completing withholding forms, is also present; however, copies of the forms are not included.

B2187-10: This accretion consists of a copy of the Division of Child Support Enforcement site produced on December 27, 2010, shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office. Most of the information found within this copy is included in the December 22, 2006 copy, but this copy includes newsletters (2007-2009), an updated Child Support Standards Chart (2010), and publications (2008). A Spanish language version of the website and informational brochures in Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Haitian Creole, and Korean are also present.

Researchers should note that, owing to the site's structure and the limitations of web archiving technology, the "Interactive Tour of Child Support" link does not work. In addition, the links that provide access to various sections of the sample Acknowledgement of Paternity (LDSS-4418) form do not work properly; however, these sections can be viewed by clicking on the "Display all" link at the right side of the page.

B2187-20: This accretion consists of a copy of the Division of Child Support Enforcement website produced on March 16, 2020, during the third term of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo (2011-2021). Most of the information found within this copy is included in older copies, but this copy contains additional publications (2011-2020); a revised Child Support Standards Chart (2020); and information about online, email, and mail-in services available during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It also includes a translation feature that presents each page's content in 109 languages.

Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of web archiving technology, the child support videos available on the live site are not included in this copy.
