Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible website of the New York State Consumer Protection Board. It contains press releases (2005-2006) and information about the board's mission and organizational structure. It also contains a "Consumer Law Help Manual" and other materials (some in Spanish and Chinese) outlining consumers' legal rights relating to telemarketing, personal finance, immigration assistance, housing, commercial transportation, public utilities, and a wide array of other products and services.

B2201-08: This accretion consists of a copy of the Consumer Protection Board Web site produced on April 24, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It contains newer press releases (2007-2008), newsletters (2007-2008), and consumer information specifically for children. It also contains materials (some in Spanish and Chinese) outlining consumers' legal rights relating to a wide array of issues, products, and services.

B2201-10: This accretion consists of a copy of the website produced on December 20, 2010, shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office. It contains additional press releases (2007-2010) and newsletters (2007-2010) including the bilingual "El Consumidor Latino," and updated information relating to a host of consumer issues, products, and services.
