She has served as the Chair of the Standing Committee on Crime and Correction (2009-2010).

Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible Web site of Senator Ruth Hassell-Thompson. Researchers should note that in 2009, each Senator was allotted space on the main Senate Web site and the official sites of individual Senators were removed from the live Web.

B2225-06: This accretion consists of an archival copy of Senator Hassell-Thompson's official Web site produced on December 21, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains biographical information, photographs, constituent brochures and mailers, and a New York City parking calendar (2006). Press releases (2005-2006) concerning legislation that Senator Hassell-Thompson sponsored or supported, events taking place in the 36th Senate District, and other matters of interest to Senator Hassell-Thompson's constituents are also included.

B2225-08: This accretion consists of a copy of Senator Hassell-Thompson's official Web site produced on June 12, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It contains biographical information, press releases (2008), photographs, and brochures and mailers about Internet safety and other matters of interest to Senator Hassell-Thompson's constituents. Of note is a brochure of senior citizen crime prevention tips that was actually issued by the office of Senator David A. Paterson, who later became Governor (2008-2010).

Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, most of the information contained within this site could not be captured properly. In addition, some of the navigational links do not work properly. However, identical sets of navigational links appear at the top and the bottom of each page. If the link in one set does not work correctly, click the Web browser's Back button and then click on the corresponding link in the other set.
