Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible Web site of Senator Velmanette Montgomery. Researchers should note that in 2009, each Senator was allotted space on the main Senate Web site and the official sites of individual Senators were removed from the live Web.

B2242-06: This accretion consists of an archival copy of Senator Montgomery's official Web site produced on December 21, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains biographical information, photographs, a district map, and press releases (2003-2006). It also includes a letter from Senator Montgomery to Empire State Development Corporation Chairman Charles Gargano concerning the Atlantic Yards Arena and Redevelopment Project Environmental Impact Statement and a memo from Senator Montgomery and New York City Councilwoman Letitia James concerning the Memorandum of Understanding between the Empire State Development Corporation, the City of New York, and Atlantic Yards developer Forest City Ratner Companies.

Also present are overview of the responsibilities of the city and state officials who represent residents of the 18th Senate District, a guide to criminal justice resources, and other information of interest to Senator Montgomery's constituents.

B2242-08: This accretion consists of a copy of Senator Montgomery's official Web site produced on June 12, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It contains biographical information, photographs, press releases (2008), and a district map. It also contains constituent newsletters (2008), a brochure concerning predatory mortgage lending, and other materials of interest to Senator Montgomery's constituents.

Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, most of the information contained within this site could not be captured in mid-2008. In addition, some of the navigational links do not work properly. However, identical sets of navigational links appear at the top and the bottom of each page. If the link in one set does not work correctly, click the Web browser's Back button and then click on the corresponding link in the other set.
