Scope and Content Note

This series consists of archival copies of the official website of Senator Catharine Young. Researchers should note that in 2009, each Senator was allotted space on the main Senate Website and the official sites of individual Senators were removed from the live Web.

B2271-07: This accretion consists of an archival copy of Senator Young's official website produced on December 26, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains biographical information; photographs; a district map; and press releases (2005-2006) concerning legislation that Senator Young sponsored, state funding for programs and services in the 57th Senate District, formation of the Wine and Grape Caucus, and other matters of interest to Senator Young's constituents. Also included is information about tax relief and aid to municipalities, provisions in the 2006-2007 Executive Budget, a Senate Republican plan to combat Medicaid fraud, a Senate energy plan, and other issues and initiatives.

B2271-08: This accretion consists of a copy of Senator Young's official website produced on June 13, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It contains biographical information; photographs; a district map; and press releases (2008) concerning legislation enhancing benefits for veterans and armed forces personnel and barring sexual contact between students and school employees, a new state economic development program, and other matters of interest to Senator Young's constituents. Also included are a Senate Majority Task Force on Immigration report, "Fiasco: The Governor's Plan to Grant Illegal Aliens Drivers Licenses in New York State" (2007); information about agriculture provisions within the 2008-2009 Executive Budget; and a "blog post" with forty-one citizen comments concerning the March 2008 sweep of Snowmobile Trail Maintenance Fund monies into the State General Fund.

Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, most of the information contained within this site could not be captured properly in mid-2008. In addition, some of the navigational links do not work properly. However, identical sets of navigational links appear at the top and the bottom of each page. If the link in one set does not work correctly, click the Web browser's Back button and then click on the corresponding link in the other set.
