Scope and Content Note

This series serves as an index to Series B2643, Lands under water survey project records. Documented projects were located in the five boroughs of New York City and Long Island as well as Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess, Orange, and Greene counties.

The index consists of two boxes of 5 x 8 inch index cards. One box is arranged in alphabetical order by the applicant's last name. The second box is arranged in alphabetical order by geographic location and therein alphabetical by applicant name. The index cards provide the name of applicant, survey location, county, tube number, and 222 series number. Some index cards also include the date of the project. The cards also provide an "H" series number which is the designation for highway/Department of Public Works projects. The last set of numbers in the "H" series number correlate to the project survey file number in series B2643. The "H" series number can be cross-referenced to the Office of the State Comptroller's land acquisition and sale microfilm records currently in the custody of the Comptroller's office.
