Scope and Content Note
These aerial photographs were created by various federal agencies prior to and during the Second World War. They were collected and annotated by the Department of Public Works and/or the Department for Transportation for use in design, remediation, and emergency repair purposes. Photos depict areas located in counties which comprised the former Department of Transportation Region 3. Counties which comprised this region were Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, Oswego, Seneca, and Tompkins. The photos were most recently used, maintained, and annotated by the Department of Transportation Geotechnical Engineering Bureau.
Photographs typically measure approximately 27 inches x 22 inches. The focus of the photos is 1000 feet on either side of roads and waterways.
