Administrative History

In 1971, D. David Brandon was appointed as the Urban Development Corporation's director of program development. In this role, he acted as the state agency liaison with Congress, federal administrative agencies, professional societies, and public interest groups. His responsibilities also included managing building and infrastructure technology; overseeing social facilities and services; planning New York City's West Side Highway; research, programming, and program evaluation; and supervising the 1972 Hurricane Agnes flood recovery program. Additionally, as administrator for the New Communities Program, Brandon supervised the development of self-sustaining, mixed-use, mixed-income communities.
