Scope and Content Note
This series consists of a small quantity of examples of motion papers and related documents filed with the clerk of the Court of Appeals in the nineteenth century (predominantly). Documents include affidavits and notices of motion, affidavits of service, orders of substitution, orders of continuance or discontinuance, stipulations, petitions, notices of argument, notices of judgment, and returns on appeal.
Custodial History
The Court of Appeals placed these records on deposit at the Historical Documents Collection, Queens College, from 1973-1982. These records were preserved as examples nineteenth-century Court of Appeals motion papers and related documents. The remainder of the series is believed to have been destroyed.
