Administrative History

A writ of covenant commenced an action to recover damages for breach of a sealed contract. A writ of habere facias possessionem was an order to a sheriff to restore possession of real property to the prevailing party in an ejectment proceeding. The writ of proclamation was an order to a sheriff to give public notice to the defendant in a Supreme Court proceeding to plead to the plaintiff's demand.
