Scope and Content Note
The bulk of this series consists of press releases issued by the office of the assembly minority leader. A wide variety of topics are covered, including medicaid funding; educational funding; state aid for soil and water conservation districts; proposed upgrading of road, rail, and air travel facilities; special education programs; prevention of child abuse and neglect; effectiveness of services delivered by state agencies; public sector management and productivity; development of rural resources; crime prevention; and tax reform. The files also include summaries of bills, suggested radio scripts, and speeches.
The press releases are from the offices of Perry B. Duryea, Jr. (minority leader 1966-1968, speaker 1969-1974); and James L. Emery (minority leader 1979-1982). Also included are press releases and correspondence (1962-1982) from the office of Willis H. Stephens, chair of the assembly ways and means committee.
