I, the undersigned, Evert Pels, residing in Renselaerswyck, promise for myself, my heirs and successors that I will honestly satisfy and pay to Jan Jansen Damen the sum of one hundred and ninety guilders, nineteen stivers, ten pence, which money the aforesaid Jan Damen has paid on my account to the company for Wolphert Nys. I promise to pay the same on demand. Done the 15th of June anno 1643, in Fort Amsterdam, New Netherland.
