Translation
Order to Dirck Smith, provisional commander on the South river, to appear before the council
[ Ultimo November 1655 ]
[ Present at the meeting the noble, honorable ] Petrus Stuyvesant, and [ the honorable members of the council ], Nicasius de Sille, Lamontagne [ and ] the lord fiscal Cornelis van Tienhoven.
It has been resolved and deemed necessary to summon the present provisional commander on the South River of New Netherland, important reasons inducing the director general and councilors thereto. Done at the session held at Fort Amsterdam in New Netherland, ady ut supra.[1]
