For burgomaster:

Requesting your honors to choose from these those who are most competent, sensible, and capable for government, to the service and benefit of this city and the inhabitants of its jurisdiction. Done this 31 January 1658 in the city hall at the meeting of schout, burgomasters, and schepenen of the city of Amsterdam in N: Netherland in the presence of lord Pieter Tonneman, high councilor of New Netherland and commissioner for the honorable lord director general and high councilors of New Netherland.

By order of the schout, burgomasters, and schepenen of the aforesaid city, Joannes Nevius, secretary.
