Series:
Scanned Document:

Whereas Simon Woutersen lanspassaet voluntarily confesses that the prisoner Severijn Lourens ran away due to his carelessness or negligence, only offering the excuse that he did not expect that the said prisoner with such heavy chains would be able to escape.

Therefore, the director general and council of war, having heard the claim of the fiscal and the confession of the imprisoned Simon Woutersen, and having paid attention to whatever may be relevant in this matter, sentenced and condemned the said Sijmon Woutersen, as they hereby sentence and condemn him to a fine of 6 months wages to be applied as appropriate, and that, as an example to others he shall perform soldiers’ service during six consecutive months and not receive more than soldiers’ wages, denying the fiscal his further claim brought forward on and against him. Thus done in Fort Amsterdam in N: Netherland the 16th of April anno 1658.
