Order permitting the inhabitants of the town to employ Indian brokers

At the request of the community, the court has provisionally granted for this year to all burghers and inhabitants of this village of Beverwijck the right to employ Indian brokers, without the employment, however, of any Dutch people, under the penalty mentioned in the ordinance; nor shall they be allowed to send any presents into the woods, which presents it hereby declares subject to confiscation, one-half for the benefit of the officer and the other half for the benefit of the informer. Actum in Fort Orange, the 15th of June 1660.
