This 14th August, 1673: The following answer was delivered by Deputies from the Commonalty of the city of New Orange, to the Commanders and Council of War.

No. 2. The Commonalty of the city of New Orange being convoked at the City Hall, and it being proposed to them by order of the Honorable Commanders and adjoined Council of War of the fleet to elect persons from the Commonalty to confer with said Commanders and Council of War, they have, accordingly, by plurality of votes, elected Mr. Cornelis Steenwyck, Mr. Cornelis van Ruyven, Mr. Johannes van Brugh, Mr. Johannes de Peyster, Captain Marten Cregier, and Secretary Nicolas Bayard.

Dated at New Orange, this 14th of August, 1673.
