Scope and Content Note
The series represents the hearing, background research and report files of the State Study Commission for New York City. The purpose of the temporary commission was to investigate governing practices and structures within the City of New York and to recommend changes to improve efficiency and economy.
Records include hearing transcripts and tapes, staff reports and memoranda, and meeting minutes on a variety of issues and topics, with particular emphasis on those connected with the Housing Development Administration and the Health and Hospitals Corporation.
The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
