Scope and Content Note

The series consists of project files documenting airport design and construction statewide. Constituent groupings are fairly consistent. Each project file contains components for design and construction; federal aid/approval; engineering; and programming.

Records typically include contract agreements; correspondence and memorandums among state, local, and federal officials and private engineering and construction contractors; approved contract transmittals (from agencies such as the Dept. of Audit and Control, the Federal Aviation Administration, and various municipal governments); blueprint maps/plans showing projected construction (of runways, towers, terminals, etc.); engineering studies; property appraisals and copies of deeds (for land taken for airport construction); project applications for federal and state aid; and programming files (including documents on sewage, traffic control, and "land" matters such as grading, excavation, seeding).
