Scope and Content Note

This series documents the activities of the Banking Department in the interim between assuming possession of institutions and their closings. Some records in the series were created by liquidating agents appointed by the banking superintendent to investigate outstanding mortgages and loans. Records include legal papers, inventories of assets, asset appraisals, lists of claimants, records of payments, and administration documents of liquidating agents and the liquidation bureau (for the period 1930-1958).
