Scope and Content Note
This series consists of the annual financial reports of public libraries generated pursuant to Article 3 of the General Municipal Law requiring filing of annual financial reports subject to examination by the Office of the State Comptroller.
Each report contains a statement of the financial transactions of the public libraries and lists the assets; liabilities, reserves and capital; receipts; and disbursements of the agency. Some of the reports contain letters of transmittal, printed brochures, and other memorandums. There may also be small amounts of accompanying correspondence of the Bureau of Municipal Research and Statistics.
The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
