Scope and Content Note
This series consists of documents prepared by insurance companies (now inactive) that applied for licenses to do business in New York State. Companies include domestic companies domiciled in New York and U.S. branches of foreign companies. Records include permits, company by-laws, reinsurance agreements, reports on examination, lists of stockholders, as well as other material. The series does not contain licenses, charters, or final disposition documents.
The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
