The series consists of copies of public remarks concerning Italian heritage and culture made by Matilda Cuomo in her capacity as chair of the Christopher Columbus Quincentenary Commission; and messages she sent responding to invitations to speak and invitations to events she was unable to attend. Also included are speeches and messages by Governor Mario Cuomo, to various civic groups and local quincentenary committees commending their initiatives.
