Summary:
This series consists of inspection reports, correspondence, and related material documenting the monitoring and oversight
of foster care agencies, including institutional homes for children and orphanages. Files prior to the 1920s consist almost
exclusively of inspection reports of private institutional homes for children prepared by the State Board of Charities. After
the late 1920s, the files contain increasing amounts of administrative correspondence and less detailed reviews of physical
facilities, client care, and management and operations.
