Scope and Content Note

The series consists of files of the Local Government Records Advisory Council (LGRAC) documenting its activities, including membership, meetings, committees (steering, finance, rules and regulations, judicial review), legislative efforts (Local Records Bill), and reporting. Files were created by LGRAC and by the State Archives and Records Administration (SARA), which acts as the council's secretariat.

Records include notes; correspondence; memoranda; reports and studies; membership lists; and published material.

19060-00: This accretion consists of material documenting efforts to repeal the sunset provision of Chapter 78 of the Laws of 1989 which established the Local Government Records Management Improvement Fund. Records include resolutions, memoranda, correspondence, and meeting minutes of local governments, local government associations, private organizations, and State Education Department officials. Also included are lists of Local Government Record Improvement Fund microfilming grants and annual financial reports of the Local Government Record Management Improvement Fund.
