Scope and Content Note
This series contains subject files generated by the following commissioners of the Department of Taxation and Finance: James H. Tully, Jr. (1975-1982), Robert W. Bouchard (Acting Commissioner, 1982), Roderick G. W. Chu (1983-1988), James W. Wetzler (1988-1994), and Michael H. Urbach (1995-1999). The records document the range of agency policies and activities in which the Commissioner was involved, and include correspondence, memorandums, reports, and meeting notes. A large portion of the correspondence and report files is between the Commissioner and the New York State Legislature, the Governor's Office, and the federal government.
The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
