Administrative History

Commercial theater is financed through the sale, by theatrical producers, of limited partnership interests to investors. The Attorney General has the authority under Arts and Cultural Affairs Law Article 23 to review and approve the offering literature and financial reports of commercial theater productions in New York State. The Attorney General has the authority to prosecute violations of the Theatrical Financing Act. These powers are intended to safeguard theatrical investors as well as to maintain the well being of the legitimate theater.
