Administrative History
Since 1996, the Archives Partnership Trust (APT) has sponsored the annual Larry J. Hackman Research Residency Program. This program supports advanced work in New York State history, government or public policy by covering research expenses for visiting scholars using records at the State Archives, and by encouraging public dissemination of scholars' research products. Three types of awards are currently made: for general research (by academic historians, graduate students, independent researchers and writers), for public historians (individuals who provide historical research services to municipalities, historical societies, museums, archives or similar non-profits), and for teachers (primary or secondary schools).
Scope and Content Note
These records include materials announcing the annual awards, successful applications, notices of awards, final reports from the visiting residents, and copies of and information on publications and public presentations resulting from research at the State Archives.
