Scope and Content Note

The markers documented in this series were created by a special initiative to commemorate the route that General Henry Knox used to conduct an artillery train and supplies from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston in the winter of 1775-1776, and are distinct from the bronze markers placed by the New York State Education Department mostly from circa 1926-1939 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the American Revolution (series 11890). Record types include applications, articles, correspondence, and other records concerning the Knox Trail markers.
