Scope and Content Note

Stage management files are technical working files that detail every minute aspect of the stage production for a particular play performed by the New York State Theatre Institute (NYSTI). Because certain aspects of a production changed each time it was staged, new files were created for each performance. Records document such issues as stage lighting and stage direction, sound cues, blocking, sound tracks, and the placement of props on a set.

The series also contains copies of costume designs, prop lists, schedules, producer and rehearsal reports, set floor plans, scripts, musical scores, contact sheets, communications with directors and designers, director's calls, stage/sound cues, and lists of performers. There are also some contracts. The series contains only a sampling of NYSTI plays, mainly those which were either original productions or foreign performances.
