Scope and Content Note

A bound volume contains correspondence of officers of the Constitutional Convention of 1938 concerning publication of abstracts of the proposed amendments and their submission to the voters in the general election held November 8, 1938; copies of the abstracts; printed copies of the texts of the proposed amendments, with introductory and print numbers; and printed or typewritten copies of the proposed amendments bearing numerous strikeouts, additions, and corrections.

The final printed and preliminary draft copies are certified as being filed in the Office of the Secretary of State. Bound into the volume is a printed copy of the "New York Constitutional Convention Record and Index", which contains texts of all propositions introduced, voting record of delegates, other proceedings of the Convention, a roll of delegates, and subject index to propositions introduced.

The volume was compiled and filed in the Office of the Secretary of State pursuant to legislation of 1938.
