Administrative History
The Pulteney Estate consisted principally of a 1,250,000 acre tract purchased by Charles Williamson from Robert Morris in 1791. The purchase money was provided by Sir William Pulteney, William Hornby, and Patrick Colquhoun, all of Great Britain. Williamson conveyed legal title to them in 1800-1801.
