Scope and Content Note

This series consists of bills compiled by the State Printer's Office for the printing and binding of New York State government publications. The records were compiled pursuant to a law of 1840 which appointed Thurlow Weed to a four-year term as State Printer and instructed him to report his contracts with the State to the Legislature for review.

The Series contains a list of the acts, messages, reports and other government publications printed, cost to the State, and date of the bill. There are reports for many State government agencies and in some instances there are audits of these bills questioning a particular charge.
