Scope and Content Note

This series consists of two sewn booklets containing abstracts of fees and other monies received by the Clerk of the Supreme Court in the City of New York or his deputy, between July and December, 1839, and January and June, 1840. The abstracts were compiled and submitted to the Comptroller in pursuance of an Act passed May 7, 1839, regarding compensation of Clerks of the Supreme Court. Both booklets were signed by William P. Hallett, Supreme Court Clerk, and were sworn before a Commissioner of Deeds. The statements give names of individuals and amounts.
