Scope and Content Note
These bound volumes provide carbon copies of correspondence from the Deputy Comptroller and the Comptroller relating to land taxes.
The correspondence is with state and local officials such as Commissioners of the Land Office and County Treasurers, and also with private individuals. It contains a variety of information relating to land taxes such as surveys prior to taxation, amount of taxes due, notices of unpaid taxes, and other references to laws and different regulations regarding land that the Comptroller was in charge of fulfilling.
