Scope and Content Note

This series consists of fragmentary burned schedules of the Census of Electors taken in 1814. The schedules give the name of the head of the family, the number of electors in various property classes (see descriptions of Census of Electors, 1801), the number of free white males and females under age 18, age 18 - 45, and over 45, and the number of free blacks and slaves. The Census was taken pursuant to Chapter 189 of the Laws of 1814 and Section 12 of the Constitution of 1777. Summary statistics by county and town are found in Senate Journal, 38th session, 1814, pp. 117 - 158, 201, 212, and 225.
