This volume of letters relates mostly to Convocation of the University of the State of New York. Many of the letters are from officials of schools in New York State.
The first University Convocation was convened by the Regents in 1863. These meetings provided a forum for discussion within the State's educational establishment.
The New York State Archives is part of the Office of Cultural Education, an office of the New York State Education Department.
