Scope and Content Note
These volumes contain forms appointing or transferring students to various institutions for the blind and deaf at state expense.
Each form provides: date; name; age; town and county of residence; appointment number of students; date appointment begins; length of term; name of institution; provider of the student's clothing; and occasional remarks.
The Superintendent of Public Instruction was authorized to appoint students to an increasing number of institutions for the blind and deaf by laws passed in 1854, 1870, 1872, 1876, 1877, 1884, and 1897.
