Scope and Content Note

The registers of admissions and discharges, track the arrival, departure, and academic level of students in the intuition's schools. Each register is divided into two sections for inmates received and discharged: 1882-1901 First Division and Second Division; 1901-1924 First Division and Second Division. The admission register entries are kept chronologically by date of admission. Each entry gives date, class (1st - 6th grade), name of boy, house number, age, ability in reading, writing, and arithmetic, where he attended school, and 'remarks' (usually how long attended school or how long out of school). Discharge registers are kept chronologically by date of discharge. Each entry gives date, name, house number, level of competency in arithmetic (addition, division, fractions, decimals, etc.) and class (1st - 6th grade).

There are minor variations in the extent of information in each admission and discharge register. Some pages are removed from some of the volumes. The last volume is disbound and appears to include fragments from another volume. Though nowhere indicated, these registers are presumed to have been kept by the head teacher, since the only substantial information about the inmates concerns their education.
