Scope and Content Note

This volume contains handwritten minutes of monthly meetings concerning: election of delegates to attend state employee conventions; appeal to the Public Service Commission to reduce the railroad fare between Rochester and Industry; correspondence with legislators regarding protection from unjust removal, retirement benefits, and payment of salaries during sick leave; recruitment of new members; association benefits for sick employees; election of officers; routine matters such as monthly reports of officers and committees, and appointments of and orders to committees.

Also included is a typed copy of the organization's constitution and bylaws, adopted July 19, 1910, stating that the organization was formed to promote the interests of the institution's public employees and ensure them the full protection of civil service laws. Following the constitution is a list of charter members and the names and membership dates of new members. The group met regularly until 1913; then meetings were often not held or concerned only routine administrative matters. The last meeting for which this volume contains minutes was held in January 1914.
