Scope and Content Note

This volume contains very brief narratives or lists of information concerning female Catholic inmates.

The histories may provide: inmate name and number; where from; offense for which committed; date received; age when received; parents' names or an indication if deceased; extent of education and religious training; and present status (e.g. married; living with mother).

These notes were made by the Catholic Chaplain, probably as a preliminary record before completing his inmate case histories in the Chaplains' Registers of Inmate Case Histories (series A3146). Much of the information in this volume is duplicated in the Chaplains' Registers. The chaplains also functioned as parole agents and were required to keep records of inmates' background, behavior, and progress at the institution and to supervise their parole.
