Summary:
This series consists of incoming correspondence and drafts of reports and outgoing correspondence compiled by the State Comptroller's office. Most of the documents relate specifically to the management and disbursement of funds appropriated for educational purposes and therefore under the oversight of the Board of Regents. Records document grants for establishment of libraries and for other charitable purposes; management and appropriation of funds for common schools, colleges, and academies; status of the finances of the Board of Regents; and funds raised by lotteries, especially as provided for in the Lottery Act of 1814, and appropriated for educational purposes.
