These files contain correspondence and memoranda between the assistant commissioner and secondary school principals, students, private citizens, and officials at the New York State Nautical School.
The bulk of the records concerns: qualifications for secondary school diplomas; qualifications for state college scholarships; requirements for academics to receive state financial aid; approval of secondary school curricula; syllabus development; inspections of secondary schools; and the movement to develop junior high schools.
