Scope and Content Note
These are typewritten carbon copies (notarized) of local school district censuses forwarded to the commissioner of education in 1929, 1931, and 1934. The purpose of the documents is not stated, but may have been in connection with requests for adjustment of state aid in rapidly growing suburban school districts.
School districts include Union Free School District No. 14 (operating as Draper High School) in the Town of Rotterdam; Union Free School District No. 6 (coterminous with incorporated villages of Manhasset, Munsey Park, and Plandome) in the Town of North Hempstead; and Union Free School District No. 9 (coterminous with the incorporated Village of Pleasantville) in the Town of Mount Pleasant.
